Huntingdon Racecourse
Creating Nature's Corridors has planted a total of 7.5km of new hedgerows and 30,171 trees since the charity's inception in 2021. Of this 7.5km total, 1.5km of new hedgerow was planted at Huntingdon Racecourse - our biggest planting to date, as we planted over 10,000 trees and hedging plants on this one site alone. This will offer great new habitats for thousands of animals and insects whilst increasing the biodiversity/ecology of the surrounding farmland. These new hedgerows will also create natural windbreaks for those watching the rugby or attending events at the racecourse. The plantings sites at the racecourse include a new wet woodland and planting alongside flood prone land, slowing the water down and helping reduce the impact of flooding.
